Suzanne Grundy, Director of Reading

Biography

Born in Southern California, Suzanne spent her early years with her family following her father's aeronautical career around the US. There wasn't a lot for a little tyke to do, so she taught herself to read by the time she turned three. This was to be a long-standing pattern with her and she read her way through school, the Air Force, many executive assistant positions, a return to college and a degree, and finally through a cervical spinal cord compression which left her with issues, but plenty of time to read. She is currently in the process of moving to the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Her service dog, Lilly, will be going with her to continue to help her through her days and nights.

Interests in her words, "I Like..."

I like books! I like them in singletons and in series. I love becoming immersed in a new place with new people, even if going through the same things. When I read, you have to literally shake me to get my attention, as I become so totally involved in the story, I might as well be there with the characters. Reading is such a necessary skill, it hurts when I meet people who either don't or can't. Reading can be so much more than a skill, though. It becomes a passageway to the imagination; and that, is where my love of reading exists.
